peek pronto March 4, 2010 Vincent Galea (Scranton, PA USA) I just got my peek pronto in the mail a few days ago and I love it! I previously owned an Lg Rumor through Sprint and was being over charged for a very simple plan that did not even include email. Not to mention being locked into a 2 year contract. With Peek, There is NO CONTRACT! I paid the cost of the device around $60. As of right now i only bought one month for $20 just to try it out, BUT if you purchase 3 or more months up front it cost as low as $15 per month. Also it comes with a one year warranty and a 30 day guarantee or your money back!
Remember this is not a cell phone!
Bottom line is if you're looking for a simple mobile device that ONLY does emails and texting, then this is the one for you!
Great gift for Grand Parents February 14, 2010 Rawdon Kellogg ... this has turned out being a great gift for bringing the Grand Parents into the email and texting age ... now they get pictures and descriptions of places we visit .. as they happen ... and at a very affordable monthly rate !
The only thing on my wish list would be a little more resolution in photographs ... but at this price it's hard to be too picky ... it's doing the job I imagined it would and provides a new dimension of entertainment for Granny and Granpa
Love this but does not work with WEBTV email addresses January 23, 2010 Rita W. from St. Louis, MO (St. Louis, MO) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this mainly to help with family member's job search as their contact email address is [...]. Nobody at Peek nor Webtv can help me to make this happen. Peek claims they have customers that are able to use their [...] email address. I am able to read my AOL and Yahoo emails and have tested the text messaging, which does work. The unit is probably worth it due to its text messaging capability. Standard email works well but forget being able to see attachments. Kind of cool that Peek has news alerts, traffic alerts and the local weather is fabulous. All in all, I am very satisfied with the product. I would appreciate help from anyone that is able to view webtv emails. I am a gadget/electronic "freak" and this is really a great new product and am hopeful that improvements will keep coming.
A disappointment January 21, 2010 HP (Boston, MA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've purchased the Peek to replace my work Blackberry for personal messages. At first glance, the Peek was exactly what I needed: a simple, small device for texting and e-mail. I have the Peek for about a month now, and I have to say that I am very disappointed. On the positive side, the Peek is sturdy and the screen is clear. Now, on the negative side:
-This Peek model is supposed to push messages, but rarely does. I am not talking about 1-5 minutes delay as it was mentioned in another review (who was the reviewer? A brain surgeon waiting for instructions?), but 6-8 hours delay. Sometimes even after clicking send/receive.
-Signal is erratic. Sometimes I get full signal while the peek is on my desk, sometimes no signal at all
-Blackberry abandoned the side scroll wheel for ergonomic reasons. The peek has a lateral scroll wheel (that is also too small) which causes strain in your thumb
-E-mails from different accounts are in the same inbox, which is fine (I would say even convenient for me), but it would be great if they were color-coded.
I've payed for three months in advance. After that, it will go to my kids to play pretend phone.
Peek SUCKS! December 25, 2009 James R. Harris (Georgia) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had this thing for a week and have not yet been able to turn it on due to the fact that I was sent a defective battery with my NEW peek. Peek said they would "put in an order" to ship me a new battery, but a week later all peek can say is that they are backed up shipping orders! Peek is a terrible company with a terrible product! Amazon ships defective products!
